Lifestyle Channel coverage of the opening of Ayala Museum's Zero-In exhibit "Inspiration to Illusion: the scenographic works of Eduardo Sicangco." Scenic design is an artistic discipline that crosses over other artistic disciplines. The skills of a painter, sculptor, architect, and lighting designer combine to conceptualize what is essentially literature and interpret it visually in three dimensions.
Eduardo Sicangco is a world-renowned scenographer who was mentored by Philippine National Artist Salvador Bernal at the Ateneo de Manila University. For more than 30 years, Eduardo Sicangcos designs for costumes and scenery for opera, ballet, and musical theater have dressed the stages of Lincoln Center, Radio City Hall, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and off-Broadway and regional theaters, and even the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. The exhibition will include selected scale models--presented with their preliminary drawings and plans. Several finished costumes will be on mannequins, accompanied by their original costume plates.
